DT and AA Grand Tour raise £438 for the Air Ambulance
Today, Patrick Morgan, Managing Director of Sywell Aerodrome-based Dawn Treader Performance Ltd, handed a cheque for £438 to the Northamptonshire and Warwickshire Air Ambulance. The money was raised thanks to participants in the 2013 AA Grand Tour visiting Patrick Morgan’s collection of historic racing cars and the workshop where his company prepares, in particular, historic racing cars and motorcycles.
“The air ambulance, although vital to the district as a whole, is also there to assist should an incident occur during a motorsport event,” said Patrick Morgan, Managing Director based Dawn Treader Performance. “That is why we are so pleased to be able to contribute to their much-needed funds.
Tracy Grunwell Head of Fundraising at The Air Ambulance Service said "It’s fantastic to see Patrick and his team getting involved and helping to raise donations for this incredibly worthy cause. The Air Ambulance is a vital service in this area and Sywell are doing a fantastic job to help us keep the Air Ambulance flying. The support that we receive makes a huge difference, not just to us but to the lives of the people we save.“
About 150 people took part in a conducted tour of the collection, which includes Ayrton Senna’s 98T Formula 1 Lotus from 1986, Jacques Villeneuve’s 1996 Formula 1 Williams FW 18 and other historic cars covering more than 50 years of motorsport in Europe and the USA.
“The AA Grand Tour is an annual event that is part of the Silverstone Classic, which is the world’s biggest classic racing festival. This year more than 100 cars took part in the visit to Sywell, which was one of the main highlights on the route,” said Dermot Bambridge, organiser of the Tour. “The participants were amazed at Patrick’s array of vehicles and I am delighted that we managed to help raise money for the air ambulance.”
